ADAPT-MED workshops I and II were a success among the Portuguese stakeholders

The ADAPT-MED workshops for the Portuguese case study were held on the 17th of March and on the 8th of May 2015

Both workshops were hosted by the UAVR and the ISCTE-IUL teams in the Estarreja Municipal Library which is nearby Baixo Vouga Lagunar (BVL).The workshop I (17th March) gathered 24 stakeholders, including central and regional administration, municipalities, parishes, associations and end users. The objective of the workshop was to identify the relevant issues that should be included in the adaptation strategy. The stakeholders took part in the three discussion tables on which they addressed the needed actions in terms of Impacts, Policies and Involvement. Two fliers were handed to the participants: one introducing the project and the case study; the other clarifying the stakeholders’ participation steps during the ADAPT-MED project. Both the fliers and the report on the workshop I can be found in the WP5 section, in Portuguese. The workshop II (8th May) gathered 18 stakeholders, including regional administration, parishes, associations and end users. The objective of the workshop was to present the identified actions in the workshop I, which were selected and adjusted into measures according with the French and Portuguese principles of adaptation. Then, the participants took part in three roundtables to address the opportunities and constraints in implementing those measures. The ADAPT-MED Portuguese teams prepared five brochures regarding the BVL, the climate change issue in BVL, the stakeholders perception during the WP3 interviews, the workshop I results and the stakeholders involvement in the adaptation process (WP4 survey results). The brochures were handed during the workshop II and can be found in the WP5 section, in Portuguese.
